The circular shape of a wreath represents eternity, the circle of life, and endless hope. Since a wreath has neither a beginning nor an end but is a continuous circle, it symbolizes God Himself. Wreaths hung on doors or windows are an invitation for the spirit of Christ to fill our homes.
Wreaths are decorated with ribbon and bows, pine cones, colorful balls, and other ornaments. (It is rare to see one that is just plain evergreens.) The exuberance of the decorations express our joy at the gift of Jesus being born to save us.
Reflection: Lord, God, you sent your Son into the world to share eternal life with us. I lift my heart to you in gratitude for this great gift. Amen.
