The Mount Carmel Guild Ministry provides support to the Mount Carmel Guild of Trenton in one of their many Emergency Assistance programs, which provide food, basic newborn staples and toiletries to almost 17,000 clients a year throughout Mercer County. The Mount Carmel Guild was founded in 1920 by Bishop Thomas J. Walsh and provides “a helping hand” to ailing seniors and impoverished individuals and families. The mission of the Mount Carmel Guild is to enhance the life of those in need: body, mind, and spirit. More information about Mount Carmel Guild may be found at: mtcarmelguild.org
Members of the ministry at St James Church advertise, collect and deliver food and donations to the Mount Carmel Guild in Trenton on a monthly basis. We coordinate the yearly Thanksgiving food drive and conduct lemonade stands/bake sales, host hospitality weekends throughout the year and assist with the Mount Carmel Guild annual 50/50 raffle. We also orchestrate the backpack and school supplies drive for the children of clients at the Mount Carmel Guild. Throughout the year, we also provide any additional help that might be needed.

This is a very flexible and hands-on ministry. We only meet once a year in May to review our progress and outline our vision for the next year. The ministry is a wonderful corporal work of mercy in which to participate for both individuals and families!
