The Rosary is one of the most well-known and popular forms of prayer that we have as Catholics. You might wonder: Why do we pray using rosaries?
How did the rosary originate? What does the rosary tell us about the history of the church? What can we learn from praying the rosary? Join us on Thursdays for a six-week Scriptural Rosary Program to strengthen our knowledge of the gospels through the rosary, deepen our spiritual connections, and to remind ourselves of the true meaning of the rosary, with a focus on the Joyful Mysteries.
The first session is scheduled Thursday November 30 at 6pm, and will address the historical and theological development of the Rosary. Cristina Sheldrick will lead this session.
The subsequent sessions (Thursdays December 7, 14, 21, 28 and January 4 at 7pm) will focus on the praying the Joyful Mysteries and their sources in Scripture and faith-sharing. Sessions will run 1-1/2 hours and be held in the Conference Room at St. James. Bring your favorite rosary or one will be provided.
