One of the most rewarding parish ministries is that of visiting the homebound. Each week, Eucharistic Ministers from Saint James bring Holy Communion to parishioners who are unable to attend Mass. Those parishioners greatly appreciate the opportunity and blessing to receive Holy Communion at home.
In addition to visiting parishioners in their homes every Sunday, Saint James provides a Communion service for Catholic residents at Brandywine Assisted Living on Route 31. Also, every Friday afternoon, volunteers from Saint James and Saint Alphonsus lead the recitation of the Rosary for residents at Brandywine.
We are always in need of additional Eucharistic Ministers to bring communion to our parishioners who are homebound, living at Brandywine or in a hospital. In addition to regularly scheduled volunteers, we need substitutes to help periodically when a regularly scheduled Eucharistic Minister is unavailable on their scheduled day.
If you are interested in being a Homebound Eucharistic Minister or if you are interested in leading the Friday afternoon Rosary at Brandywine, please contact: Deacon Pat Brannigan ([email protected] or 609-737-9210)
If a parishioner is ill and would like a priest to celebrate the Sacrament of the Sick (anointing) please call the St. James Parish Office at 609-737-0122. If a parishioner is unable to attend Sunday Mass and wants to receive communion at home, please call the St. James Parish Office at 609-737-0122.
Because of Federal Privacy Regulations, the parish is not notified automatically when a parishioner is hospitalized. If a loved one is hospitalized, please contact the St. James Parish Office at 609-737-0122. We will make every effort to visit them.
