Just three weeks ago we were surrounded by people greeting us with the annual adage, “Happy New Year” as we began 2025. For many who look forward to opportunities for a fresh start with an optimistic view on self-improvement whether it be weight loss or beginning a new hobby, this can be a happy season. Yet for those who have lost a loved one, a new year can also bring anxiety, confusion and a feeling of being overwhelmed.
In the Catholic Community of Hopewell Valley, a ministry exists to help those who are experiencing the pain of grief. In a confidential, scripture based, small group setting we are given the chance to share our grief story non-judgmentally and receive support. The group consists of six sessions, 1.5 hours each, workbooks and reference material are supplied free of charge. The groups are led by volunteer, trained grief facilitators from our parishes.
If you are grieving, or know someone who is, please consider joining this grief support group. You do not have to be a member of our churches or even be a Catholic. To obtain more information or to pre-register, please contact Deacon Michael Riley 609-902-2022 or [email protected].
