CLOW (Children's Liturgy of the Word) Catechists spend time with our children (toddlers through Grade 3) for about 20 minutes during Mass while the Liturgy of the Word is being celebrated in the Church. During this time away they share the day’s Scriptures with our children in a way that is easy for them to understand, using simplified Scripture readings, songs, games and discussion. Materials are provided to make planning easy.
CLOW will be held during the 10am Mass at St. James on Sundays when Religious Ed classes are in session. Parishioners from the Catholic Community of Hopewell Valley are invited to participate. Catechists must be at least 18 years of age and must attend a Protecting God’s Children Awareness Webinar (available on-line).
Catechists work in pairs and are assigned once every month or two. We work around your schedule using an on-line system which will send you reminders and allow you to request a sub if needed. New catechists can be assigned with experienced catechists for starters.
