The Liturgical Atmosphere Team is a ministry that serves the parish by preparing an environment for worship that will invite the community to raise their hearts and minds to God in full, conscious and active participation. We invite members of The Catholic Community of Hopewell Valley to join the Liturgical Atmosphere Team of their parish, described below.
At St. Alphonsus Parish, the Liturgical Environment Team is comprised of volunteers who work with the Parish Office throughout the year to provide a welcoming atmosphere for worship. This includes changing the church colors to reflect the Liturgical Seasons, arranging flowers for the altar, decorating for Easter and Christmas and other special Feast Days and celebrations. The members of the St. George Atmosphere Committee assist in the planning, preparing and decorating of the Church throughout the Liturgical Year. They create an environment that is welcoming and sacred, one that evokes a prayerful atmosphere for our gathered community or for anyone who is a visitor as well as those who like to spend time alone in prayer. The environment created assists us in experiencing and encountering Jesus through our surroundings as well as through liturgy. Throughout the liturgical year, our decorations change according to season. While the members of this group have been blessed with a passion to decorate, help in this ministry is also needed to move things around, hang banners, wreaths, etc. and assist in suggesting ways to continually create and attract more parishioner participation. Contact person for this ministry is Ann Koloski (Akoloski@stgeorgetitusville.
The Liturgical Environment Team at St James takes on a number of tasks that help make our Worship Space beautiful and also works behind the scenes to make everything ready for our celebrations. Our Flower Arrangers takes turns preparing flowers for the Altar and Ambo most weeks. A separate team decorates for Christmas, Easter and special celebrations. Another team waters plants and flowers and removes those that are past their prime. And a few people change the altar cloth and attend to other details that reflect the Liturgical Season. Each team is always happy to add new members. St. James: Joann Held ([email protected]).
