The Altar Server Ministry is a ministry of service to God and Church. Altar servers help Masses and other services run more smoothly, and they add to the beauty of church rituals as they lead processions into and out of church. They set the Altar, hold books for priests during Mass and perform whatever duties might be appropriate and necessary during Mass.

Altar serving allows children of the parish to take part in the ritual of the Mass beginning as young children in 3rd grade right through high school. The Altar Server Ministry helps the children and young adults to learn about their faith, while at the
same time building self-confidence. Children who serve learn to feel confident in front of other people, they are “on stage” at every Mass, which is good at developing a skill that will be necessary in higher education and during their work lives. They also come closer to God, as they build leadership skills by helping younger servers in learning to be proficient servers.
Altar servers will serve at least one Mass each month (depending on the church) and every effort is made to schedule Masses on dates that do not conflict with other activities.
